SUMMARY:Highways Don’t Drive the Local Economy: Discussion on Highway 413 and the Bradford Bypass
DESCRIPTION:\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				 \nWill new highways REALLY get you there faster?  At what true cost?  Who benefits now and in the future?  What would be some viable alternatives? \nThe King Vaughan and Richmond Hill Federal Green Party Associations will be partnering to host Susan Lloyd Swail\, former Senior Manager of the Livable Communities Program at Environmental Defence\, and Peter Miasek\, President of Transport Action Ontario\, who will be giving a presentation on the proposed Highway 413 and the Bradford Bypass.  Why are new highways and sprawl accelerators always the immediate solution? What are some more viable options?  What ought to be the new transportation infrastructure?  Our speakers will discuss the effect new highways would have on climate change\, food sustainability\, the local economy and propose more reasonable and economical alternatives.  \nDiscussions will be focused on the planned Hwy 413 and the Bradford Bypass and the presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
