A Message from Ann Raney

I wish to congratulate Anna Roberts on her re-election. Congratulations to all my fellow candidates who ran and to those who volunteered, donated, and voted. I also wish to thank the many who facilitated the election as part of Elections Canada. (Thank you to the Election Ontario staff as well.)

A free, open, safe, and fair election period ought to be appreciated. Throughout history and to this day, people have struggled and died for such a privilege. Our country’s long history of respecting one another’s rights and choices, the electoral process and its final results, and our civil servants who work in institutions such as Elections Canada and Elections Ontario, are significant contributors to the stability we enjoy.

Respecting that opinions cannot be right or wrong and trusting that we are all trying to do our best, is to me, a big part of getting along with others in a community.

We just went through two snap winter elections in a row and there seems to be less certainty about what the future will hold. However, if we share and care for each other as a community, we can do anything, together.

In that spirit, and as an expression of gratitude for my community, I invite you to an afternoon dinner at the historic Laskay Hall (circa 1860) at 2920 King Road (King Township Museum and Cultural Centre).

Arrive at 1:30 PM on Saturday, June 7th, to the gentle music of John Daly and enjoy refreshments and mingle a bit before the afternoon dinner is served around 2 PM. You may choose to participate by singing along to some “hippie era” tunes before or after dessert. It is a very special moment to sing along with
others.

Let’s celebrate community together! Please send an email to me if you would like to attend. Seats are limited. RSVP to ann.raney.king@gmail.com.
